I was trained personally by Kim West and her team of incredible specialists, including:
- Shoshana Bennett, author and leading specialist on Postpartum Depression;
- Lewis Kass, Director of Children’s Sleep Center Connecticut, USA, specialized in medical conditions and sleep apnea in children;
- Anthony Loizides, MD, pediatric gastroenterologist New York, USA specialized in reflux and infant sleep;
- Jodi Jennings, OTLR, expert in sensory processing disorders and sleep.
To become a Gentle Sleep Coach the program involves a rigorous initial selection process, which, if passed, is followed by months of study and a final exam to graduate. This is all done with the participation and supervision of Kim West herself who has helped many families of tired parents for over 20 years.

In order to maintain the title of Gentle Sleep Coach it is necessary to attend annual refresher courses, including final exams.
The GSC program includes advanced training on how to work with babies aged 0-5 months.
Some of the topics that are covered during the training period are as follows:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of the importance of attachment and infant mental health
- The sleep science for the first six months of life
- The considerations that need to be taken into account when working with and supporting families during this period
- Specialized instruction on how to assess families in the first six months
- Development of in-depth knowledge on how to assess when the child is ready for sleep coaching
- Assessment of appropriate strategies and solutions to preserve breastfeeding by creating a basis for long-term sleep learning
- Development of in-depth knowledge about education, tools and resources to successfully work with children in a safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate way
